Mark of the Vampire: This film is an admirable, fascinating story of vampires terrorizing European village. The film is beautifully finished, with a marvelous ending. Siddhartha: A choppy rendition of the Hermann Hesse novel that follows an Indian as he leaves his family to a find more stimulating life. This film is too artsy, although on-location photography by Sven Nykvist is often illuminating. Cast includes Shashi Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Romesh Shama, Pinchoo Kapoor, Zul Vellani, and Amrik Singh. Ali Fear Eats the Soul: Widow Mira, in her 60s, falls in love with and weds an Arab 30 years her junior. The work is a fascinating, calmly powerful Fassbinder film that is a redo of Douglas Sirk’s All That Heaven Allows. Cast includes Brigitte Mira, EI Hedi Ben Salem, Barbara Valentin, Irm Hermann, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. (94 minutes, 1974)
Iron Eagle: This is a comic magazine film in regards to an eighteen-year-old who commandeers an F sixteen aircraft and soars to the Middle East (playing rock music on his Walkman all the way) on a quest to recover his dad, who’s been taken hostage. Full of jingoistic superlatives, awkward morals, and individuals who die and miraculously return to life. Cast includes Louis Gossett, Jr., Jason Gedrick, David Suchet, Tim Thomerson, Larry G. Scott, Caroline Lagerfelt, and Jerry Levine. (119 minutes, 1986) .
Mother: Sad youthful female who lives with her mom plans to carry out suicide. Her mom invests the day trying to keep her from doing it. Well performed, prompted, and revised, although still just a stage drama. Cast includes Sissy Spacek and Anne Bancroft. (96 minutes, 1986)
An American Film Show Production: Offbeat Lockhart owns the Brooklyn Loons baseball team; he dies and leaves the club to his spunky pet cat. Cast includes Ray Milland, Jan Sterling, Gene Lockhart, William Frawley, Elsie Holmes, Taylor Holmes, and Leonard Nimoy. (95 minutes, 1951)
Inglorious Bastards: 5 cadets getting ready to be court-martialed in WW2 take off and try to make their way through France, wishing to get to the Swiss border. Cast includes Ian Bannen, Bo Svenson, Fred Williamson, Peter Hooten, and Michael Pergolani. (100 minutes, 1978)
